Photo: Women's winter tourThe National Subaru Women’s Winter Tour (WWT) is the largest, most unconventional women’s winter event in the United States. It’s so much fun one could dub it as “women’s winter recess.” The unique cross county ski and snowshoe events compile some of the key aspects of a woman’s life: fun, friends, food and chocolate, then throws them into one grand winter party. The event creates a day just for the gals to let loose, get sassy and forget about responsibility.

Though the actual event is all about having fun, the WWT itself supports an extremely serious and prevalent problem. Domestic abuse against women and children is an issue in every community. In response, every winter, the WWT straps on their boots and makes a move against domestic abuse. The WWT provides an opportunity for women to help those who find themselves in violent situations by raising much needed funding for local community shelters and abuse organizations that directly help women and children in violent or neglected situations. Even more important, the WWT is bringing awareness to the nation that domestic abuse is prevalent in all communities and something needs to be done about it.

Aside from putting domestic abuse awareness on the map, the original roots of the WWT lay in the fact that the events are made to inspire women of all shapes and sizes to get excited about cross country skiing and snowshoeing. The WWT has the power to give women the confidence to get outside and get active while in the security of a noncompetitive environment.

The WWT has an amazing aura around it that is in part created by the beauty of the nature that the event is held in, the women who participate, the cause it is helping, the delicious food and wine offered along the trail and the enthusiasm and attitude behind each participant.

This winter let your hair down, put a hat on and come join in the biggest women’s winter craze! Be one of the thousands who gather in ten different locations throughout the U.S. to celebrate women, winter and chocolate!
